HOW TO FIND YOUR HAPPNIESS IN HIS HANDS
Happiness is often associated with having money, having things and having an easy-going life. Can I just say, that is so not achievable? It’s been found that people who have all those things (money, possessions and too much time) can often be unhappy; yes they can enjoy their life and have time to do the fun things that they want, but they lose the purpose for living.
On the other hand, you have those who have little money, few possessions and no time who also feel that happiness is unachievable because they will never have time to experience it. In both of these instances, the enemy is using the situation you are in to keep you down and depressed, away from God.
So what can you do?
1 | STAY POSITIVE
There will be days where everything will seem to be going wrong: the coffee is cold, you can’t get your hair right, your car wouldn’t start, you were late for your job, the bills keep piling up. The list goes on and on. Everyone has those days, it’s not just you. In fact, I feel like I have at least one of those days each week. So when you feel that one of those days is starting, stay positive.
- Turn on your favorite song, and just jam out.
- Take some extra time for prayer
- Reach out and ask for prayer
- Treat yourself to lunch
- Compliment others (I know I’ve mentioned this one in other posts, but it really works!!)
2 | REMEMBER WHAT GOD HAS IN STORE FOR YOU
He did not make you and bring you into this world to be sad and depressed. The Lord has brought you into this world to show you love and happiness.
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. ~John 16:33
The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent. ~Exodus 14:14
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. ~Thessalonians 5:16-18
3 | DON’T LET OTHERS DEFINE WHO YOU ARE
Oftentimes, others judge quickly, without thought or care for how that affects someone else. It is not always out of spite or hate, but it happens far too often. Instead of retaliating in a negative manner, becoming offended by what was said or breaking ties with that person: be honest. Say something like “What you said really hurt me, I’m not sure if you meant that or not, but I would appreciate it if you didn’t say something like that again.” After that, forgive them. There’s no reason to let a small comment go a long way. The comment only has as much power as you give it.
4 | PRAY
Need I say more?
I hope you can find happiness in your everyday life no matter what circumstances are thrown at you. I pray that you are drawn closer to the Lord and can serve Him throughout your life.
